Tips for choosing banquet hall and reception venue for your wedding
When selecting your ceremony or reception site, think about who you are as a couple and what makes the two of you unique. Your selection will be influenced by the formality of your wedding, the season of the year, the number of guests expected and your religious affiliation. Consider issues such as parking availability, handicapped accessibility, time constraints etc.
Couples go out of their way to rent the best of venues, banquet halls, and also the best of caterers. They realize that it is the wedding experience that will be remembered for years to come. Some popular locations for ceremonies are churches, cathedrals, chapels, temples, synagogues, private homes, gardens, hotels, clubs, halls, golf courses, parks, wineries, beaches, etc. Consider having your ceremony at the same facility as your reception to save a second rental fee.
It's a good idea to plan for your ceremony and reception well in advance, as many places fill up early, particularly during popular wedding months. Most couples prefer to hold their wedding in summer when the weather is all hot and warm. We suggest selecting and reserving your reception and ceremony site at least nine months prior to your wedding. Banquet halls vary a great deal in quality, facilities and policies, so make your choice carefully. Good banquet facilities are in constant use, so book early, a year ahead is not an unusual length of time. In the planning phase, couples should go through many different magazines and directories containing information on various banquet halls. It will help couple decide which venues to concentrate their efforts on and which ones to avoid. Directories and magazines contain information on the price range, facilities, services and amenities offered. Take your time and compare all the halls before you decide to book.
The budget is the single most important factor to consider when choosing the wedding reception venue. It determines the kind of hall that a couple can rent. There are prices to suit every budget. When comparing the cost of different locations, consider the rental fee, food, beverages, parking, gratuity, set-up charges and the cost of equipment such as tables, chairs, canopies, and so forth. If you are planning an outdoor wedding, be sure to have a backup site in case of rain.
If your reception is going to be in a hotel, restaurant or a banquet hall, you will need to select a meal to serve your guests. Most of the places will have a predetermined menu from which to select your meal. If your reception is going to be in a facility that does not provide food, you will need to hire an outside catering company. The caterer will be responsible for preparing, cooking, decorating and serving the food.
With careful planning, extensive research and lot of work, you can easily find the perfect venue / banquet hall for every occasion, including your wedding event.

Washington DC Smithsonian Museums
According to their website, there are 19 museums, 9 research centers, and the National Zoo. Most are scattered around Washington DC. Together they comprise one of the finest collection of museums in the world.
Ten of the museums are located right on or near the National Mall. They are strung out for about a mile on both sides of the Mall between the Capitol Building and the Washington Monument. You'll do a lot of walking within the museums too, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Remember that the hop-on-hop-off buses are an option for getting around to the different museums. There is food available in several of the buildings.
The iconic building of the Smithsonian Museum is the "Castle". This red sandstone building was the Smithsonian's first building. It's centrally located on the Mall. There really isn't much to see here, but it's a good place to start because it's the Information Center for all the museums.
One of the most visited of all the museums is the National Air and Space Museum. It displays many historic aircraft and spacecraft. There are full scale models of a Lunar Lander and rockets. The Imax Theater offers different films on flight several times a day. If you like airplanes, get out to the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Dulles Airport in Virginia. There are many more aircraft out here.
Another favorite is the National Museum of Natural History. It is well loved for its dinosaur exhibit and for the room full of precious stones including the legendary Hope Diamond. If you want to give your kids a real thrill, check into a Smithsonian Sleepover. You'll see the movie, "Night at the Museum", get to explore the museum, and sleep with dinosaurs!
The National Museum of American History is the one that offers proof for the saying "The Smithsonian is America's attic." It's in the museum that you will find the "Star Spangled Banner." You'll find such diverse exhibits as inaugural gowns worn by President's wives all the way to steam trains. You'll also find Kermit the Frog and ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland in the "Wizard of Oz".
The National Gallery of Art contains a great collection of Western European and American paintings. The Freer and Sackler Galleries have Asian art and American art with an Asian influence. The Hirshorn Museum and Sculpture Garden is a collection of modern art. Next to the building is an outdoor sculpture garden.
Visit the National Museum of African Art and the National Museum of the American Indian to see and learn about the history of the native peoples of the Americas.
There is a National Portrait Gallery, an American Art Museum, a National Postal Museum and the National Zoo.
The National Archives Building is also on the Mall, but it is not a Smithsonian Museum. The Rotunda for the Charters of Freedom is the permanent home of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the U.S. and the Bill of Rights.
